The thing is, I don’t have any notes. My thought before making this vid in terms of the themes I would present were pretty much “angst” and “epic.” Nothing more than that. Basically, I love this show. That’s what this video is born out of. Well, that and I have really been dying for a decent ensemble video to this show, and if there are any out there, I certainly haven’t found them. So this video is a gift to myself. But I hope you all enjoy it as well!

I did bookend it though; because basically Elena = Katherine now.

As I’m writing this a day later. I just wanted to say that this show, for me, is so much more than just a show about two vampire brothers and the woman between them. I feel like, from outside observers, that that’s all of this show is about. A cliche love triangle. But for me, the show is all-encompassing. It’s about strong characters, specifically strong women characters. And it’s not just that they’re strong, because they’re not always, it’s just that they’re given their own stories: elena, katherine, bonnie and caroline. They are the heart of this show, for me. And the people who populate their world are far more varied than most of the official posters for this show would have you believe. So this is my representation of the idea of The Vampire Diaries as a true ensemble, which it so clearly and gorgeously is.

So, Misfits. I guess I owe this show some thanks. I wanted to do an Alisha/Simon vid that focused mainly on Alisha’s pov. The beginning is something of a mini character study on dear Alisha. And then we’ve got superhero Simon and lots of angst and tragedy and you know, the rest is history. While the song seems kind of liberating, for Alisha, I am not really sure the events that unfold are. So it’s a touch of irony if you want to call it that. In the end, she’s probably more untouchable now than she was before. Sad, really.

On a personal note: This is probably my first full length vid in over three years. [I'm guessing.] So this is pretty special to me. Regardless of whatever else feels important. The fact that I did this? Is kind of insane to me right now. So yes, thank you Misfits. [And thank you gigglemonster for both introducing me to the show and making me the lovely art you see above! Oh! And she was my beta too!]
